 A place to sleep. (open)
« Thread Started on Jun 29, 2008, 6:53pm »

The sun was beginning to set, shining through the trees and illuminating the spring leaves. The shadows had grown long, and the clouds were turning pink in the setting sun. Alexia padded along a well-worn path, following it to where she thought there might be dens. She had only recently arrived in these lands, but there were no scent boundaries to be found, it seemed like all of this land was unclaimed.

She came around a bend and found herself looking at a large dirt clearing, with tons of dens. The arctic wolf grinned, flicking her bushy tail back and forth. Stepping forward, she sniffed the air, but smelled nothing unusual.

There were many dens here, enough for a large pack, at least. She wondered whether or not this land had once been inhabited. Maybe so, but during her time here she had caught no sign of other wolves.

The she-wolf entered a den. It was obviously unoccupied, with only the smell of the dry earth. It was big enough for her and about two more, and she was perfectly satisfied. With a thud she lay down, her large body unsettling some dust.

Soleste had kept her young pup Reliona hidden in this den for some time then there was a strange scent on the wind. It was another wolf so Soleste stood leaving her pup to sleep she walked to first stand outside her large den, but after seeing the stranger enter a den she leapt up onto the flat rock of the den she lay there. watching the female waiting for her to come out.

The black wolf hybrid lay in the den still asleep, she was still only young so slept more than her mother did.
Soleste listened as Reliona moved around but she didn't wake so Soleste stay laying on the top of the den, listning to Reliona and the other wolf.

Alexia sighed and stretched out on the den floor, enjoying the feeling of finally being able to rest. But suddenly she paused, lifting her head and sniffing the air. A wolf. She wondered if someone had just come along. Standing up quickly she exited the den and looked around.

There was a femme lying atop a nearby den- how could she not have noticed? Alexia stepped forward and nodded her head in greeting. "Hello." she said, "Do you know if there is a pack that resides in these lands?"

Soleste watched as the other walked out of the cave and listened as she spoke she seemed knid enough "I was thinking of forming a pack here" she answered she had been thinking of it for a while but never got round to deciding on wether she would or not.

Reliona woke upon hearing the voices she raised her head then got up shaking the leaves that lined the den off her dark fur she walked out of the den looking up at her mother she joined her on the top of the den. "Who is this mum?" she asked even for a young pup she had a very good vocabulary.

"I was thinking of forming a pack here." said the wolf. Alexia nodded. "I have thought of this too." she said, walking forward and sitting down closer to the wolf, though still far enough away that she wouldn't startle the fem. It was just irritating to talk to someone over a distance.

She raised her brows as a pup came out into the open. It was wolflike but Alexia could still tell that it had some dog blood. Noticing for the first time the chain on the other's neck she realized that they must have once been owned by humans. Lexi frowned. Humans had always caused her grief, she wouldn't go anywhere near them if she could help it.

"I am Alexia." she answered to the child, then looked up at them both. "And who might you two be?"

Soleste leapt down from the top of the den sitting closer to the female Reliona following close behind. "I am Soleste and this is Reliona, my pup" Soleste answered thinking of a response to the females first words.

"Well if I formed this pack I would need pack members and a beta" Soleste told the female. Looking at Reliona before looking back to face Alexia, she gave a small smile to the female so she wouldnt think Soleste didnt want her here because she did, it was not often she would have company around here.

Reliona followed her mother and lay at her side when she sat to face Alexia, Reliona was not shy just doing what every pup did and stay whit there mother untill old enough to run alone, but Reliona would stay with her mother forever.

A male padded slowly through a forest he had never come across before. His golden orbs glittered as he watched the long shadows of the tree's. His gaze shifted toward the pastel pink sunset.
He stopped walking abruptly, his head turning toward the dens, ears pricked and alert, nose quivering delicately. He had smelt other wolves.
He narrowed his eyes, watching the two large femme's, unable to see the pup. 'Hmmm...' he murmured, relaxing. He let his eyes return to their normal state, full of bright, burning spirit.

He hadn't been in these lands long, he had only met one wolf so far, in the meadow, but he was determined to make a bit more of an effort, maybe even make a pack. He had never been on his own before, as a loner, he was used to pack life.

Padding toward the female, he noticed there was a pup, pretty young at the looks of it.
He nodded to the females in turn, and offered the pup a smile.

'Hello,' he said softly.

[[Sorry to those of you who have previously read my application! I re-posted her history here so that those who have not could understand why her 'introduction' starts this way. If you've read it, you can just skip over lines 12-42. Other than that, this post continues normally.]]

She was not like the others.

In the stunning moonshine, she had run from them.
It was a cool spring twilight, but yet the sweat escaped her brow and an unspoken thrill sent chills to grip at her sides and tickle her heart. Never before had she so openly defied her caretakers, and the feeling was one of unsurpassable fantasticality. It presented her with such a mixture of guilt, excitement, and anxiety that she could hardly contain the speed in with her haunches fled. So overcome was she with this tangle of emotions that she thought to almost faint! Such a swirl could overcome her!

And yet. Under the towering stars bright and brilliant, her paws still leapt. She still ran, as she had for miles, her pelt windswept and dirtied, her eyes watering from the breezes she faced. She ran fast and unfaltering, and soon, soon, she thought, she would be free.

She was the bastard child of the Samali pack.

Born into a scandal, she was, the love child of her red wolf mother, Rasha, and her Grey wolf father, Narik. The two battling clans had vowed never to touch muzzle to muzzle kindly. The only time they decreed to ever meet would be in the thick of battle, obscured by the woods with only the traces of blood to remember one another by, the dead on parade in front of their territory... And yet. Stealthily and silently, the two young lovers had met in the chill of the river, in the cold boundary line that separated the two lands and confessed their love to each other by the luminosity of sweet moonlight. In this winter frost, snow falling softly around them, they entwined their tails and whispered to each other visions of a time where they could be together. In flowering spring, grasses growing lush, they stole away into the fields of Verakyi, dreaming together and wishing upon stars as they concealed themselves in the tall grasses, emitting rich love vapors from their pelts that sent twitters down the spine. In summer, they bathed in the cool river and licked one another's sweat from their brows. And, in autumn, he fell onto her and stole away her innocence and together they conceived their child.

It was not long before the birds of the forest betrayed their secret. Twittering hastily to the pack leader of the grey wolves, they condemned the lovesick Narik to a hideous and humiliating death. The birds, though, did not know the identity of Narik's love, and although they tortured him endlessly he would not unmask her.

The pack leader knew of the breed, though, and so decreed that each Samali pack member watch the disturbing cannibalistic murder in which life was taken from Narik. The Alpha and Beta males ate him alive after nearly drowning him in the river, scraping their horrid teeth along his tender bones until they ripped out his heart and beat it's love deep into the dirt.
And Rasha died of depression. Watching her lover cry out their promises to the moon, she sank to the floor and her chest ceased to heave with the misery of her sobs. Concealed in a throng of her pack members, her secret was saved. And when they cleared her body away once the ceremony had ceased, Rasha's sister found the mangled, half blood pup that had burst from her womb.

She took the child to the Samali pack leader, a woman of cold thunder but a bit of pity etched into her heart. Rasha's sister begged and offered her life for the child's, and so she was there slain, but Lunae would be raised amongst her mother's people.

And she was. But it was as to grow up as a bird amongst a pack of land creatures. So apparent was her difference! Each day was a torment, each night a waking nightmare! And although merciful Lanai, alpha of the Samali pack, had pardoned Lunae's death, she had never promised equality. After being raised firmly and harshly as a child (so respectful they had taught her to be! One wrong move as a pup and she would be heavily punished. Elegance was mandatory and respect was demanded. 'You are our lesser,' she was taught. 'You are simple vermin.' Their words never hurt her. As assumed, these were simply facts.), she had grown up to adhere to the pack's impositions.

But now, she was alone. She would create her own destiny. And though she knew little of the ways of this world, she would carve out a life for herself.
She never expected acceptance. Of course, exclusivity and affliction were things of her daily life. She didn't want otherwise, simply because she didn't know otherwise. But, may the reader understand that blindly, this was her subconscious goal.

--

She had been running for nights and did not know her bearings.

By now, even after stopping to rest multiply, the wear of her journey had exhausted her.
The sweat and grime that covered her was one of extreme proportion, and so out of respect for self and to those she may come upon, she stopped to bathe herself in a frozen river.

She sun was beginning to set.
At this hour, she again pursued her destination, but at a slower pace, now confident that her tracks were heavily covered. And, she mused, even if they weren't, it would be a speculation if they cared! With this comfortable thought against her heart, she could relax.

The air was sweet.
She could smell many a wolf.
She was terrified.

Quickly she made her course toward a sheltered area, yearning for a private lodging away from the scent that filled the breeze, and away from the tauntings she knew surely awaited her. After she had rested a night, she would continue on her journey, to somewhere uninhabited, free from fright. Where she could make her own way...

But then she came up upon a gathering of wolves, and the surprise that she could not sniff them out nearly destroyed her.
All in a haste she dropped to her stomach in desperate submission. She pulled back her ears and thrust her tail between her legs, humbling herself to her superiors as she lowered her eyes in respect. "Forgive my trespass," she begged quietly. "I knew not that anyone resided here!"
She shivered in fault. She was not weak. But she had erred. She knew the way of wolves and knew of the ways in which they protected their territories, and although she was strong, in these moments of submission and consequence, she was vulnerable.

Lexi watched as the wolf leapt down from atop the den, her pup following. "I am Soleste and this is Reliona, my pup." Alexia smiled and nodded, looking at the pup. "It's good to meet you." she replied.

"Well if I formed this pack I would need pack members and a beta." she continued with a smile. Lexi grinned as well. She knew where this was going. It had been so long since she had a pack, a family. She had even come close to thinking that she would be a loner the rest of her life..

She looked up at Soleste. "If you're interested, I think I'd make a good beta." Alexia was used to being alphess, yes. The desire to govern a pack seemed built into her genetic makeup, but she would still be able to make a good beta female. She remembered when she was beta in The Kingdom. She hadn't been very happy there, but that pack had a group of rebels constantly trespassing and trying to kill off their members. She shook the thoughts from her head, pushing them into the very back of her subconscious, and looked back at the wolf in front of her.

'Hello,'

This was a male voice, and it sounded friendly. However she still turned her head quickly, startled by his sudden appearance. She was slightly taken aback by the wolf's appearance. His coat was ordinary enough, gray and brown, but his eyes were big and bright. Gold. She was about to open her mouth to say hello when yet another wolf stumbled upon them.

The moment this wolf caught sight of them she sank down to her stomach submissively. Her fur was a mix of black and reddish brown. It seemed this wolf too was a hybrid, though not part dog. Alexia knew she wasn't full Gray wolf, but she couldn't figure out what her other half might be.

"Forgive my trespass. I knew not that anyone resided here!" she said, shuddering. Lexi tilted her head, then stood up immidiately. She approached the fem, but stopped before she reached her, not wanting to startle the newcomer. "Oh, it's quite allright." she said, wagging her tail, trying to make the atmosphere feel a little more welcoming. "This isn't technically our territory yet."

She said the yet, because they, they meaning her and Soleste, were planning to claim these dens and the lands that surround them. But for now this was neutral ground, and they had only arrived here a few minutes before this newcomer. It would be wrong to chase her away.

Reliona stood on the hearing of strangers she ran to her den and hid at the back she wasn't going to hang around where there were loads of strange people.

At first Soleste smiled but she growled a gentle growl when the strangers spoke but not through aggresion but they simply had startled her. she stood turning to face the two strangers she smiled a small smile, "As my freind here said these lands are not completely ours yet, but when they do become ours you will still be welcome as long as you don't have intentions of harming anyone" She said, it wasn't a threatning tone that she spoke in but she had never been good at talking to a group and sounding nice.

Her fur bristled in the gentle breze, and the chain around her neck gently 'tinged' as the metal moved, but this was something she was used to the chain around her neck. The humans who put it there.

Lunae was rather confused.
Of course, it was a pleasant confused, sweet and fantastic because of how it did make her feel. Where she had come from, some slip-up such as hers would not have been tolerated. But here, it was easily forgotten! And her presence was even welcome! It filled her with a joy she thought incapable of feeling.

She stared up at the kind words with dancing eyes. Her irises regained their benign hue, and her body relaxed against the cool forest floor. A smile crept along her muzzle, slow and delicate. "Thank you," she said to them. "Thank you for your kindness."
She stretched her face to gently lick the muzzle of her superior, before straightening herself and gently wagging her tail. Her ears flicked in excitement. This could be her new home.

The birds were twittering above them, mothers flocking to children to warm them in the night. And all with one perfect feeling, Lunae knew she would be warm, too.
It as all rather dramatic. You would think it were silly to behave in such a manner! To be as happy as she was! Yet recall the circumstances, friend. It would be as a child bullied in a class, but then transferred to another and welcomed as a friend! Such would fill anyone with immeasurable joy. Just as it filled Lunae.

Twilight was beginning to emerge. The night scared away the day and the stars twinkled everywhere. And under the dazzling canopy, Lunae belonged.

Rogan looked up at the femme with the pup with his bright golden eyes.
'Yet?' he inquired cheerfully, a joyful smile spread across his maw.
His eyes wandered to the female who had just joined them. He frowned, watching her submission with a confused gaze.

He nodded his head to her, a sign of respect as well as a greeting.
He then turned his attention back to the femme, waiting patiently for an answer.

"As my friend here said these lands are not completely ours yet, but when they do become ours you will still be welcome as long as you don't have intentions of harming anyone." said Soleste, in her usual tone of voice, not mean, but very kind either. Alexia knew it was just she way she was though, and didn't hold this against her. The newcomer seemed to relax, smiling in relief. "Thank you. Thank you for your kindness." Alexia stiffened ever so slightly as the wolf licked her muzzle in submission. She knew it was only an act of respect, but it felt strange to be touched by someone after so long living on her own. It made her remember when she had a pack, friends, a mate. She smiled though, not betraying her emotions.

"Yet?" came a deeper voice, and she turned to find the smiling curious face of Rogan. "Oh, well, Soleste and I were discussing claiming this land and starting a pack." she said, then looked around. It seemed the pup was gone. She was alarmed for a moment, then realized that she probably just got scared and hid in the den. Lexi walked over to the den and bent down, speaking softly. "Reliona? You can come out, nobody out here will hurt you."
