The sun was just rising, its weak light causing the water to take on a grey tint. The rushing waters of the creek provided a soothing sound, along with the birds chirping in the crisp morning air. A bit of dew clung to the budding flowers and grass from the slowly receding night. Corteccia's lovely voice flowed through the air, seeming to weave a song with the birds' own sounds. Her blue eyes glinted as she glanced to the east, watching the dim light gain power until it was too bright for her eyes.
A sigh escaped her slim muzzle as she looked away and stopped singing, a smile creeping onto her features. She loped to the waters edge and looked at her reflection; excitement playing in her sky blue eyes, a plump pink nose, tall ears perking forward to catch every note of the birds, and short, pristine fur moving gently with the light breeze. Ah, this was going to be a good day.
She raised her head and watched a squirrel run up a tree as it saw her. Her paw tokk her gracefully into the small creek, sending shivers through her body from the tempurature. Corteccia's eyes closed as she drifted further in, bending her head to lap up some of the cool water when the fae stopped, the fur on her chest barely touching the frigid water.
With a full stomach and no plans, the femme let the current tug at her long, steady limbs, loving the way it felt on them. She opened her eyes as she heard a flutter of wings. It seems a rabbit scurried away when it saw her and scared the singing birds. A moan parted her lips as she rolled her eyes. "Stupid rabbit," she muttered quietly, "ruining everything." Silently, she waded out of the water and watched a butterfly land gingerly on a nearby wildflower before shaking most of the frigid coldness off of her thick pelt.
